I'm looking for info on John Wesley Burdick born 1879 to Davis and Laura Burdick. John married Coral Lucy Lamb (this is my grgrgrandfathers sister) in 1898 and had George, Ruth and Rence. I wanted to see if anyone knew any more about them. They lived in and were married in KS ( I have a copy of the marriage license). They also lived in Minesota in 1910, back to KS in 1915 and in Missouri in 1920. I don't know where they were after that or where they are buried.
Thank you for your time.

I have been researching my husband's family and stumbled
upon a very major brickwall with his great-great grandfather,
James E. Bond (no joke!), whose parentage I am seeking.
A few facts on him are as follows:
According to census data, James E. Bond was born ca.
1810/1811 in Vermont and sometime thereafter he or his family most likely
migrated into New York state. He probably took the waterway westward at
some time prior to 1839 as he was found in the 1839 City Directory of
Chicago. His occupation was house painter. He married Amarilla Burdick (daughter of Lorin and Esther Bixby
Burdick from Vermont) in 1845 and settled in Lockport, Will County, Illinois,
where he remained, dying there in 1888, aged 78, according to a very sparse
obituary. Amarilla died on 18 Febuary 1904.
In conducting research, I have relied heavily upon the names
of his children:
James E. Bond, Jr. (married Hattie ?)
Timothy Bond (married Mary Martin)
Charles Alden Bond (my husband's great-grandfather) married Mary Catherine Bert
William Bond (presumably died young)
Lewis Bond (married Lulu Wagner)
Mary E. Bond (married Thomas Picton)
Harriet Bond (married William Henry Bert)
Ella Susan Bond (married George Horton)
Catherine Bond (married William Sied)
I had visited Vermont, Massachusetts and Illinois but could find no
leads as to his parentage. In addition, I have written to many historical/
genealogical societes in NY state as well as in Vermont. I had my husband
join the Bond DNA project and the results just came in yesterday: no
matches with the Bond surname!
Any help -- clues, suggestions, etc., would be very greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for whatever you can do!

I a descended from a Burdick line. My grandfather and grandmother were first cousins from
Alvin and Susan Burdick. Their father Matthew Tice Burdick is said to be a g-grandson of
Robert and Ruth Hubbard Burdick. (Northern NY Genealogy). Matthew Tice was in Columbia County and Lewis County NY and married to Barsheba Post. He had brothers Nathan, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Edward and Calvin and a sister Syble. The Johnson book seems to add an extra generation between my Matthew Tice and Robert. I have been trying to prove Matthew
Tice's father I believe was Matthew Burdick...but which one?
Has any research been done on this family?

My name is Sheridan Burdick, daughter of Herbert Burdick. He is the son of Ralph Burdick. My father had one sister, Lucille, and 4 brothers: Ralph ( we called him Bud), Paul (he died as an infant), Robert, and Alvin. I am the oldest of Herbert's 4 daughters: Sheridan (1951), Cameran (1953), Allisan (1961), and Adrian (1962). I hope this is enough information for you to check to see if we're related. Please write so that we can begin communication soon. Thanks.

I go back to some of the earlier Burdicks like Robert through another line but am having this problem.
My Great Great Great Grandmother was Ratchel Fletcher her parents were David and Susannah Curtis. She was born Aug. 18, 1795 and died July 31, 1878. She married Jeremiah Burdick who was born July 2, 1793 and died Nov. 20, 1873. He ran a grist mill in Bolivar NY. They are buried in the Maple Lawn Cemetary Bolivar NY. On his tombstone it says Solider of 1812. Now I cannot find any information about him being in the War of 1812. I found information on another Jeremiah Burdick who's claim was denied because they had no record of him. Here is my problem -- Is there anyone out there that could provide me with information on who Jeremiah Burdick's parents were. They say he came from Rhode Island or Conn. but that is about all I know.

My maternal grandmother's name was Hazel Grover and her mother was a Burdick. My grandmother was born in November, 1900 (Grover/Burdick family) in Danbury (Great Plains) CT. I remember my grandmother telling me that her Burdick family settled in Great Plains/Danbury after coming from Plymouth, MA. She seems to remember talk in her family that they were related to the early settlers from the Mayflower (Pilgrims). How can I find out about this? I did go to Plymouth and found a name in the archives (years ago) which supported the fact that there was Burdick among the first settlers, but I don't have much more information. Can you help?

I have hit a bump in the road and am looking for the parents of THOMAS J. BURDICK, born 1801 possibly in Steuben County, New York. I have his mother listed as MARY, 1850 census but no other information. Thomas J. married Rhoda Gibbs and had the following children: John, George, Pegleg, all these were born in New York. Thomas J. Burdick moved to Sharon Center, Potter, PA, where his wife Rhoda died and he married her sister Ursula Gibbs and had the following children: Hellen, Jesse, Melvin, Roxa and possibly James and Amelia. This family has a rich history in Sharon, PA where most of them are buried. Melvin Burdick is my G-Grandfather and he moved to Texas, changed his name to Malvern Burdic, dropping the K off the name. Melvin, George, Pegleg and Jesse were all Civil War Vet's. Again I need information on the parents if anyone can help me, I welcome hearing from them.

Recently there was a posting in the PAERIE rootsweb... a lady had found an old photo of Jesse Burdick dated in the 1880s. The date on the posting was June 14, 2008. Here's some of the info she posted: "I've "rescued" an old photograph which I believe is a photograph of Jessie
BURDICK taken at the Crandall Bros. Studio in Milton Junction, Wisconsin.
The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Jessie
appearing to be in her 20's or 30's at the time it was taken. In addition
to her name, someone has written the name of "Orie GREEN" and noted that
"town no longer exists" on the back of the photograph." Perhaps this may be of interest to someone. Amos Freeman Burdick of Erie Co PA was my g-g grandfather. His dau. Anna Range Burdick was my g-grandmother.

Any ideas for me to begin the process of finding my "roots" would be greatly appreciated. My grandfather's name was Abraham Lincoln Burdick. I would guess he was born 1885 or there about and is buried in a cemetary in Enid, Oklahoma. My father, Homer Burdick, was his youngest child. My father has been deceased since I was a child of l0 years old. He grew up in the Enid, Oklahoma area. He was one of 5 children. All his siblings are now deceased. I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm looking for my aunt, Georgina/Georgene (Jean) Burdick. Her parents are George and Eleanor (Jenkins) Burdick who are also my mother's parents. My mother is Susan Edith Burdick, her birthday is April 5, 1955, born in Worcester, MA and has been missing for 15-20 years. My aunt left a message in the Burdick whitepages in 1998. I am hoping you might have an email address or other information about her.

My name is Elizabeth Pflager Hubbard Townsend and my 3rd Great Grandmother is Mary Caroline Burdick:
Elizabeth Pflager Hubbard married William Clarence Townsend and we have two sons
Ruth Clarke Waddill married Charles William Hubbard
Elizabeth MacLean Ferguson married Roland Acree Waddill, Jr.
Jessie Ada Clarke married Alexander Ferguson
Mary Elizabeth Briggs married Charles Welling Clarke
Mary Caroline Burdick married Asa Sheldon Briggs
I’d very much like to see if anyone can help me track down some info. I’m having a heck of a time figuring out exactly who Mary Caroline’s parents were. I’d also be interested to know if there are people actually living in Westerly still (I spent a great deal of time there as a young child as my grandparents still lived there on Langworthy Road) who might help me figure out exactly which family members some of my antiques came from.
Robert Raymond Burdick < rob1@i-star.com >
USA - Saturday, May 24, 2008
My name is Robert Raymond Burdick. My father was Raymond Aaron Burdick. He was born in Caro, Michigan in November of 1897, his mother was named Edith, but I don’t know her maiden name or the name of the man she was married to. He died when my father was young and remarried a man named George Horn of Saginaw. All of my fathers side of the family are deceased, and were all step brothers and sisters. I know all of this information is very sketchy, but maybe someone can shed some light on my family history. All I do know is his date of birth 11-17-1897 and that he entered the Navy 10-8-1919, he died in October, 1977. He was a barber for years and had a pool hall in the back of the barber shop. I think the shop was in the West Jefferson area of Detroit, MI. He owned a night club named the Studio Cafe which was located at Scotten and West Jefferson in Detroit. He owned this in the 40’s and 50’s. I also know that he was married twice, once to a woman whom I have no idea what her name was, and that he did have another son who I understand is dead. He married my Mother Grace in 1945, and I was born in 1946. I would appreciate any help or guidance that you could possibly give me.

I'll go backward thru what I have:
My father was Robert W. Burdick Jr. b 1890. His father was Robert W. Burdick, b 1854 - and had sons Robert, Homer, Maurice, and daughters Jesse, Dorothy, Grace. His father was Nathan Burdick, b 1828, in Frewsburg, NY, later moved to Venango County, PA, married Margaret Patterson, raised 13 children - 10 of his and 3 of a relative:
Robert (my grandfather), Martha, Anna, William, Celia, Flora,Allen, Lily, George, Susan, Martie (Mertie?) Charles. Nathan fought in the Civil War, and it was noted that his parents came from Rhode Island, or Vermont and there my trail ends. His name was Nathaniel, or Nathan. In an 1850 census, Nathan is mentioned, and a Joshua Burdick, possibly Nathan's brother. There is a concentration of Burdicks, descendants of this family in the Tidioute, Hickory , Warren, PA area.
Do you have any information on Nathan, Joshua, William, George and Homer and any info on the Burdicks of Rhode Island or Vermont?

My Great Grandmother was Jesse Burdick who married Mainheart Brunell. I am in a quandry because while researching another part of my tree I found another realtive who married into the Burdick Family. It goes back to my Great Great Grandmother Amy Ann Dorrity and Jarad Webster. They had a daughter named Celinda Bennett Webster who married a Uriah Burdick but I cannot find any information on that part of the family I have her birthday as 2/19/1855 but in order to complete her portion of the family I would like to have his birthday and death date and kids if any. Would appreciate the information. It has taken me almost 20 years to get this far on that part of the family. I would like to share before I pass on.

My great-great grandmother was Eunice Jane BURDICK (b. 18 Sep 1835 Almond, NY; d. 31 Oct 1909 Hornell, NY). She married Elijah Abbott STRAIGHT (b. 31 Oct 1833 Avoca, NY, d. 19 Jul 1894 Burns, NY). According to two sources, her father's name was Bradford BURDICK.
One source is T.Lazell's "Henry Straight of Portsmouth Rhode Island 1652-1728". On page 237 he refers to Eunice Jane's father as Bradford BURDOCK (sic).
Another is Irvin W. Near's "A History of Steuben Couny, New York and its People". On page 776 is written: "Elijah Abbott Straight, ..., married Eunice Jane Burdick,.... Her father, Bradford Burdick, was a native in Vermont and an early settler in Allegany county. Their wedding was celebrated at Almond November 14, 1860, and to this union were born five children, two of whom, Bradford and Burdick, died in infancy.....
I have found mention of several early Burdicks in Allegany county, but none of them by name of Bradford Burdick. If anyone has information on Bradford BURDICK and his family, I would appreciate it.

I am the oldest child of Harold Leo and Wilfred[Wynnie-Wyn] Burdick. Their other children: Harry (died about 1936 with lukemia), Robert[Bob] Owen Burdick (died about 1976) Nancy Elaine (Burdick) Fischer (lives in Augusta, GA) and Joan I (Burdick) Howell Sallenger (lives in Columbia, SC.) I live in Stone Mountain, Ga. which is part of the Atlanta metro area. I've just started to find the Burdicks. My dad's parents Effie and Frank Burdick died of the flu about 1920 and my dad was raised by different people. His older brother was Ernest Burdick and his wife Ida. I'd like hearing from anyone of the Burdick clan.

I am descended from Adeline (Adalene) Burdick Suartz (Swartz) of Licking Ohio. I have a complete list of the Suartz/Burdick family children from the family bible. I have also added this tree to Ancestry.com.
I am looking for more information about Adaline's father, R.W. Burdick b. abt. 1806, Conn. I do not know his full name, but had always though he was Robert W., however a recent census record discovery lists Richard Burdick living with another Suartz family member in the 1870 census, so R.W. may have been Richard.
R.W. was married to Susan (1814 NY), their children:
Besty (Elizabeth) 1840, Adeline (Adalene) 1842, Dennis 1844, Almyra 1846, Nancy 1848, Mary 1849, Ada 1851, George 1853, Daniel 1856
Adaline married John Suartz on April 25, 1861 at the home of I.W. German

I read a 1999 posting by someone on the web regarding the following: Dea. Benj. Burdick's family is addressed on page 11 of "The Descendants of Robert Burdick of Rhode Island" by Nellie Willard Burdick, pub. 1937. All of the sons you mention are confirmed by Westerly, RI, deeds. All of the children were by his first wife.
My question is about Jane (Wilcox) Shelley, widow of Benjamin Shelley who was the second wife of Robert Burdick of Rhode Island. Do you have any information on the source of her will? I descend from her daughter Susannah Shelley who married Joseph Hall.
I have the following will abstract, but it does not mention the source document and I was wondering if you know the source?
Benjamin Burdick...his widow Jane, whose will was proven Nov 28, 1748, left children by her first husband (Shelley) and named daughters, Sarah Worden, Jane Tanner, Mary Warren, Susannah Hall, wife of Joseph, and she mentions her deceased sons, Benjamin and Samuel.

I am doing research on my Davenport line, my gggg-grandfather was Benona Davenport of Conneticut but that is all the information I have concerning his birth. He was married to Martha Burdick Born in Grafton, NY ,daughter of John Burdick (1047 in Nellie Johnson's book) and Sarah ( O'Dell) Burdick. John was also from Conneticut. The Davenport line also comes from the Conn/RI/Mass area, but no one in my line of Davenports can not find a Benona in any of the lineage. I was just wondering if these two families might have known each other in Conneticut was just wondering if anyone has any additional info on any of the people above.
