Lorraine (Burdick) Mueller, 1918-2008
Lorraine Mueller passed away on June 4, 2008. On July 8th she would have celebrated her 90th birthday. Lorraine was the wife of Frank Mueller, long-time Burdick historian and author of the book, "The Burdick Family Chronology," who passed away in 2005. Lorraine and Frank were like a matched pair -- it is hard to think of one of them without the other. She was Frank's parner, colleague and best friend. While it is sad that she is gone it is comforting to know Lorraine and Frank are together again.

Gary Gygax, 1938-2008
Gary Gygax was best known as co-creator of the fantasy game "Dungeons & Dragons" and helped start the role-playing phenomenon. But the Burdick family knew him as something else -- one of us. Gary was a frequent correspondant with Burdick family members and contributor to the Burdick Newsletter. Gary was proud of his Burdick heritage. His mother, Almina Burdick, descended from one of the early Wisconsin pioneer families. Our famly has lost a treasure that will not be soon forgotten.

U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Derrick Burdick returned from Afghanistan. He was deployed January, 2007 and spent most of his tour in Helmand Province, near the Afghan city of Geresk. SFC Burdick was wounded in action and recieved the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He is proud of all fellow soldiers who stand and fight for our country. He also appreciates the effort we civilians make to recognize the soldiers in harms way, and for the sacrifices they and their families make every day. (Derrick, it is we who appreciate you!) Click here to read the story of one very brave Burdick. But Derrick's story does not end there -- he is now Second Lieutenant Burdick, having successfully completed Officer Training School. Congratulations!

As one of America's original families, the Burdicks wish to express their deepest sorrow to the families and friends of those lost in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. We are all touched by this tragedy and shall not forget. Click here for a gallery of pictures. God bless.

Calling all Gleichmanns! In addition to being a Burdick, I am also a Gleichmann. My great-grandparents immigrated from Germany to America in the late 1800's. A cousin of mine has been researching this relatively small family, and has some holes. Perhaps you can help. Click here for the Gleichmann family.
