The Gleichmann Family |

They had a total of 11 children -- 2 sons and 9 daughters. Unfortunately, both Gleichmann sons died before they married and had children, so this branch of the Gleichmann name was short-lived in America. The daughters, on the other hand, all married and had families. One of those daugthers, Pearl Irene Gleichmann, married Howard Elwood Burdick -- my grandparents. This page is home for the Gleichmanns on the Internet.
As you may have surmised, I've have been involved in Burdick genealogy for quite a while. The Burdick family has its roots in Colonial Rhode Island, dating to 1651. So by contrast, the Gleichmanns are relative newcomers. I have to admit that I've always known about my Gleichmann heritage but had never thought of investigating it.
That's where Marcia Macias comes in. Out of the blue I received an email from Marcia in the fall of 2005. Her grandmother, Marion Geraldine Gleichmann, was my grandmother's sister, making me and Marcia second cousins. Marcia had been researching the Gleichmanns and happened upon my Burdick web site, which mentions my grandmother.
So for the last few months, I've been helping Marcia fill in a few names on the family tree. This web site contains her research, I believe she has done a great job. As the Burdick family knows, I am not a genealogist -- the work that people like Marcia do is much too hard for me! I consider myself a facilitator. Therefore, if you are a Gleichmann, or know the Gleichmanns, please contact me or Marcia. As keeper of the data base, she is always looking for new contacts!
Finally, in an effort to keep all of the extended Gleichmann family in touch, we have collected addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses for as many of the family members as possible. We're not making that public, though, so if you would like a copy please email us.
